Happy New Year to Amber and Zeb - January 2nd Wedding!!

Well, what a great way to start the New Year: a wedding at the Capitol! Amber and Zeb booked the Rose Room for their reception, and under special arrangement, the Capitol building for their ceremony. Congrats to Amber and Zeb on their beautiful wedding day!!!

I wanted to share a few highlights before they take off on their honeymoon - below are a few random photos to take us through the day! (as always, click on the photo to enlarge).

Amber's bridesmaids got ready at the Rose Room, then escorted Amber to the Capitol where she got dressed:

We then set up a special "first sighting" on the Capitol steps. That's Lori in the second picture catching some closeups from a different angle:

Their wedding party joined us for a series of photos - what a great looking group!!

And of course a few pictures of our bride and groom!

Guests began to arrive, and soon it was time to get married. Amber's father escorts her down the stairs, and the Governor conducts the ceremony. Very elegant!

After the ceremony, we followed everyone over to the Rose Room for a few hours of celebration, including Amber and Zeb's first dance!

Savanna and Cameron - Emmett Idaho Wedding!

As promised, I'm updating my blog again! ;>)

Savanna is the sister of Tanya, whose wedding we photographed a couple of years ago! As a result, she qualified for our secret "Friends and Family" discount on her wedding photography package. If you know someone whose wedding we photographed, ask for details! ;>)

Savanna and Cameron chose the Fourth Street Gardens in Emmett for their wedding. This was our first time there, and it was really quite a gem - the large yard is a collection of separate garden areas, making for a variety of photo ops. They chose to have their ceremony in one area, and the reception in yet another area. We did some family and group photos on a deck near a waterfall, and more family photos on the very cool front porch. Not to mention the rustic old barn!

We began the day with a some "getting ready" pictures, then we drove Cameron and Savanna to the Gardens for pictures, and of course a great wedding! Below are a few random samples from the day!

Where did the summer go?

Good grief, has it been THAT long since I updated our blog???? We've had a busy summer, attending one or more weddings most every week, taking thousands and thousands of pictures for our new friends! I WILL update the blog more often. I WILL update the blog more often . . .

Before we start with some photos, Lori and I would like to thank all of you for inviting us to be a part of your big day - we appreciate your confidence and support, and we enjoy very much capturing all of those special moments for you! ;>)

OK, let's share just a few weddings from the summer, beginning with yesterday: Laurie and Joe renewed their wedding vows at the Rose Garden! Congrats to both of them! Here are a few random samples from the day. Great couple, perfect weather, cool ride! ;>)

Let's see, OK, recall Lauren and Mike's engagement session last spring? They got married at Holy Apostles Catholic Church on August 18th!!!

Let's check out Trisha and Ben's July 18th wedding. It was the hottest day of the summer in Boise, but we spent the day at a very cool cabin location in Garden Valley!

Let's head back to Boise and check out Sammie and Tim's July 3rd wedding at the Boise Depot. As we often do, we caught some pictures of the bride getting ready, then off to the Depot where Sammie and Tim had a private "first sighting"!

And how about one last wedding before I get back to working on your wedding pictures ;>) Remember Ellen and Ryan's engagement session last spring?

A big congratulations - they were married June 13 at the Secret Place!

Time to Catch up!

Where did the time go? I've been busy getting ready for a busy spring and summer, but I'd like to take a moment now to bring everyone up to date! ;>)

Looking back on the past 3 weeks, we'd like to share a few pictures and say 'congratulations!' to:

Sarah and Brandon, who got married last Friday at the Meridian Hampton Inn. Prior to the ceremony, we drove them down to the river for a few pictures:

After the ceremony, Brandon's father became lead guitartist and performed some excellent classic rock with his band Loose Change:

We attended two weddings the weekend before:

What started as a rainy morning became a beautiful day for Marie and Mike at Bogus Creek Ranch:

And Michelle and Drew had a very cool "film" theme for their wedding at Wood River Cellar (formerly Eagle Knoll Winery), complete with red carpet:

We also captured a few engagement photos during the past 2 - 3 weeks, and for some really fun couples!

Andrea and Dan are getting married in August (Wood River Cellar):

Jessica and Jared also set an August date (a garden ceremony at her parent's home):

Lauren and Mike are also getting married in August (Holy Apostles Catholic Church):

Lastly for this week, we have Ellen and Ryan looking forward to a June wedding at The Secret Place in Nampa!

Sammie and Tim - E Session!

Sammie and Tim are getting married at the Boise Depot in July!

We met downtown for a few engagement photos yesterday. After a few days of cold rain, we lucked out with some great weather! We began our session with some cookies and chai at Dawsons, then walked around for an hour or so and captured a variety of fun shots. These two were just awesome, and we look forward to more fun pictures on their wedding day! ;>)

Allia and Kyle Engagement Session!

Allia and Kyle contacted us last summer to book their September 2009 wedding at the Boise Art Museum. They were hoping for some snowy pictures for their engagement session, so we waited until this winter for the snow to fall. The snow came during the holidays, and then left town before the all the schedules could line up! But all is not lost - we still have snow at Bogus Basin! We decided to meet at the Boise Depot for a few warm up shots before heading up the hill:

It was kind of chilly out, so we all hopped into the "Urban Suburban" and drove downtown for a cup of coffee and some window shopping:

Then it was up the hill in search of snow. We found snow and thick fog about half way up the hill:

A few miles later we broke free of the chilly, gray inversion and into warm sunshine! All in all a great day for pictures!

Looking Back on 2008

As the new year begins we find our 2009 wedding calendar filling up quickly - we look forward to photographing your wedding, and making new friends!

This is also a great time to reflect on the past year. We limit our wedding bookings to 15 - 20 each year, and 2008 found us photographing 17 weddings. As we look though thousands of photographs from 2008, the pictures bring back great memories from each wedding - every couple was so much fun, with each venue offering its own unique photo opportunities. It's hard for a single photo to summarize an entire day, but I thought it would be fun to share with you a random selection from each wedding:

Winter is Here!

It's no suprise to those living in the Boise area - winter is here! We had some cold, snowy days during the Christmas holiday. But that's no reason to put the camera down and curl up with a good book. Well, maybe that's not a bad idea either, but first things first: this is a great time to look for interesting pictures in the ice. If you enjoy nature photography during the warmer months, try going out during the winter too! Nature photography is a specialty of its own, but it is similar to wedding photography in one regard: watching for little details can make for great pictures. Below are a few things that caught my eye while wandering in the snow.

On this day my goal was to find interesting arrangements of leaves in ice. Quite often the leaves are scrambled and broken, but after some searching I did find some cool shots:

A different day had me looking for interesting patterns in the ice itself.

Family Photos!

OK, playing catch up here after a busy wedding season - hope you've been enjoying the great fall weather! ;>)

The fall weather also brings us some great outdoor photo opportunities. We met the Lindstrom family a few weeks ago at Katherine Albertson Park, and had a great time catching some family photos with the fall colors. Below are a few samples!

Megan and Drew - Twin Falls Wedding!

Megan and Drew got married last weekend! We packed up Saturday morning and made the drive to Twin Falls where we met them at the hotel. After catching some "getting ready" shots, we drove Megan down to the park for a "first sight" with Drew. Then it was wedding party photos at the park, plus some fun shots of Drew and Megan on the bluffs, and by the waterfall. We wrapped up that set of photos and drove them to her Dad's beautiful Episcopalian church, Church of the Ascension to get married. Their reception was held at the Canyon Crest Event Center, perched right on the rim of the Snake River. All in all a great day - below are a few samples to enjoy while I work up the rest of them! ;>)

Keeping busy with a wide range of activities, Jake is also a talented classical volinist who has added the mandolin to his repertoire!

Terra and Michal - Wedding at the Linen Building

Terra and Michal got married September 27th at the Linen Building! If you haven't been there, it's a pretty cool place: lot's of open space and nice light coming through its many windows. Check it out some time! Meanwhile, I've posted a few samples from the day for Terra and Michal to enjoy while I get the rest of their pictures worked up!

Prior to the cermony, six of us drove around town for a couple hours, catching some family photos at the park, plus some fun shots here, there and everywhere:

After our downtown outing, we returned to the Linen Building for the ceremony and reception. Jonah Shue of the Frim Fram 4 provided solo guitar music for the ceremony, and was joined by his band during the reception. The ceremony was held upstairs, with the reception set up downstairs:

Maria and Alex - Game Day!

So, Maria is like the world's biggest Bronco fan, and she and Alex got married on September 20th, the same day as the now legendary Bronco vs Duck game. Knowing this, Lori checked with one of her BSU contacts and obtained permission to start the day with some fun shots on the Bronco's blue turf!

We then moved on to Katherine Albertson Park where we met their families for several family photos, such as this one:

We took a two-hour time out so they could watch the game on TV, then it was off to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church to get married! Like many churches, it was beautiful inside, but somewhat dark. Using Nikon's best low-light lenses and NO flash, we were able to capture sharp, colorful pictures. Lori shot from the balcony, catching some nice views from above. When possible, we try to be out of sight. I stayed on the main floor, and captured many closeups with a big zoom lense from the back of the room.

After a beautiful ceremony, we all moved to the Hilton Hotel for a great reception, where Maria was presented with a an autographed Corey Hall jersey. Did I tell you she is a HUGE Bronco fan? ;>)

Laura and Nick - Wedding at the Grove!

Laura and Nick had great day at the Grove Hotel last weekend! We first met them about a year ago, when we did their engagement photos, catching some fun shots at the Depot and the parks. Anyhow, we really enjoyed the chance to spend another day with them, and hope they are enjoying a great honeymoon! Below are a few random highlights from the day ;>)

Laura and the girls got ready in their 14th floor suite at the Grove Hotel. Strong light through the window makes quite a glow!

We met up at the park for more pictures, including a few in the Rose Garden

The ceremony was held at the Grove Hotel. The aisle was lined with rose petals and candles, adding a nice touch to the dimmed room.

To kick things off right, Laura and Nick showed some fancy moves during their first dance - good job!

Congrats to Nicole and Russ!

Nicole and Russ got married at the Powerhouse last weekend! Here are a few sneak previews!

While Lori was hanging out with the girls in the dressing room, I took the guys outside for a few shots. Did I tell you Russ has a lot of friends?

Next we drove Russ, then Nicole, to the park for a special "first sight." This was followed by some photos of the wedding party. Yes, the Suburban was filled to capacity!

The ceremony was held before a packed room. We try to be as invisible as possible during the ceremony. Shooting from the back of the building with the big lense I was able to capture some big smiles!

After the ceremony we stepped outside for a few more pictures while the Powerhouse folks set up for the reception. Russ is a fireman, and what do you know, a fire truck stopped by for a few minutes!

The reception featured a great cake, and a special serenade for Nicole by Russ's fraternity brothers:

Amber and Michael

Hello, and welcome to our blog! Well, more like the beginnings of a blog. We've been meaning to do this for some time, but things have just been crazy! ;>)

Amber and Michael got married on August 23! I go through every picture one-by-one and make sure the color adjustment and crop is just right - this generally takes a full week after the wedding. Amber has been waiting patiently while we get their photos worked up! :D In the future, I'll use this blog to share a few sneak previews while I get the rest of the pictures ready, so stay tuned!

Meanwhile, below are a few pictures from Amber and Michael's big day. We began their wedding week with a bridal session, which included taking a downtown tour to a few different settings. Lori and I had a great time, and it was fun having Amber's friends and family along for the ride! Enjoy the photos, and check back soon - we'll try to update this site each week!
